{"id":24209,"date":"2026-03-11T13:00:36","date_gmt":"2026-03-11T12:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wydawnictwo.uksw.edu.pl\/?page_id=24209"},"modified":"2026-05-12T11:43:43","modified_gmt":"2026-05-12T09:43:43","slug":"review-procedure","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/wydawnictwo.uksw.edu.pl\/en\/standards-and-policies\/review-procedure\/","title":{"rendered":"Peer Review Procedure"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Version: 1.0 | Last updated: 2026-03-05<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All publications (monographs, edited volumes and academic articles) are subject to peer review in accordance with the following principles:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>confidentiality,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>impartiality,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>substantive accuracy,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>absence of conflicts of interest.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Scope and general principle.<\/strong> Every monograph, edited volume and article accepted for publication by the Publisher is subject to peer review prior to a decision on publication. The purpose of the review is to assess the scientific merit, methodological rigour, structure, and alignment with the profile of the Publisher\/journal\/series.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>&nbsp;Review model. <\/strong>The Publisher applies a double-blind review model for original works and a single-blind model for collective works. As a rule, the review process is confidential.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Number of reviews.<\/strong> The standard is at least two external reviews prepared by experts independent of the author(s) and the scientific editor. In justified cases, the Publisher may commission an additional review.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Selection of reviewers \u2013 criteria and independence.<\/strong> Reviewers are selected on the basis of their subject-matter expertise and academic achievements, taking into account the absence of conflicts of interest. A reviewer submits a declaration of no conflict of interest prior to accepting the review (in the case of collective works). It is deemed unacceptable to appoint a reviewer who is in a relationship that could compromise impartiality (e.g. a professional dependency, close personal ties, etc.).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Proposals for reviewers by the author.<\/strong> The author of a monograph or the editor of a collective work may suggest potential reviewers; such suggestions are advisory and not binding. An Expert Committee is appointed from among the Members of the Publisher\u2019s Scientific Council for each work under review, and this Committee ultimately selects the reviewers. The proposed reviewers may be included among them. However, the Committee is in no way restricted in its selection of reviewers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Review criteria. <\/strong>Originality and scientific contribution; methodological soundness; soundness of argumentation; adequacy of sources; compliance with ethical principles; clarity of structure; completeness of the scientific apparatus and bibliography.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Reviewer\u2019s recommendations.<\/strong> The reviewer makes a recommendation: A) accept without changes \/ B) accept after minor revisions \/ C) accept after substantial revisions requiring re-review \/ D) reject, and provides a substantive justification for it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Decision and verification of revisions.<\/strong> The publisher makes a decision: A) accept; B) accept conditionally; C) re-review after revisions; D) refuse publication. The author\/scientific editor submits the revised text and a response to the reviewers\u2019 comments.
