„(...) the most original and bold analytical performance (...) transpires in connection to mythology.

What is especially interesting and original is reading mythological characters as figures and metaphors of cognition. Indeed, if human culture internalized the awareness of violence and deferring strategies, it must have encoded this knowledge cognitively. The idea that early myth transmission involved the narrative form in order to inscribe these principles as figures of cognition into the collective memory is a compelling hypothesis. And the final question, that is examined is one of how is GA’s theory of the linguistic and scenic adaptations compatible with what we know about the structure of the brain. Cognitive theory cannot prove the correctness of GA and vice versa. But the suggestive recent findings in the neuro-cognitive theory point in the direction of compatibility. The structure of the brain would explain why language in GA’s sense is possible, and GA would suggest that language is an emergent level of organization that does not contradict and is, in some senses, homologous to the lover neural level. All in all, the book is engaged in an important interdisciplinary project that is in line with other contemporary interdisciplinary efforts. As far as I know, this has not been done before.”

Marina Ludwigs, Professor, Stockholm University

„Dr Złocka-Dąbrowska demonstrates a deep understanding of her primary sources as well as the wider scholarly literature. Indeed, I am impressed with the breath of her reading. Not only does she demonstrates a clear understanding of GA, but she ably puts GA into dialog with other significant texts.”
