Below is a clear and structured guide that outlines the process of working with our Publishing House—from the initial idea to the finished publication. Detailed review guidelines and ethical standards are described in the Standards and Policies section.

Submitting a Publication Proposal

The author/scientific editor is asked to submit a publication proposal, including a complete set of materials in accordance with editorial requirements and a confirmed source of funding.

Materials should be sent to: wydawnictwo@uksw.edu.pl

Upon receipt of the submission, the publishing house conducts a preliminary formal and thematic evaluation.

Peer Review and Acceptance for Publication

Every proposal that passes the initial stage undergoes a peer review process. As part of this process:

  • the text is sent to at least two independent reviewers,
  • a double-blind review model is used, unless the nature of the work requires a different procedure,
  • the reviewer provides substantive comments and a recommendation regarding publication.

After receiving positive reviews and fulfilling editorial recommendations, the publication is sent for production. The above steps are in accordance with the established review procedure.

Signing the Publishing Agreement

Once the project has been approved, the Publisher prepares a draft agreement that includes:

  • the scope and terms of the transfer of copyright or license,
  • the planned schedule for editorial and production work,
  • the terms of funding for the publication,
  • the forms of distribution (print, electronic, open access).

Signing the contract serves as the basis for commencing work on the publication.

Submission and preparation of the text

The author/editor submits a complete, final manuscript that complies with the reviewers’ requirements and applicable editorial guidelines.

At this stage, the Publisher performs: substantive and technical editing, verification of the bibliography and the accuracy of citations, and preparation of the material for typesetting.

Editorial corrections are agreed upon with the Author.

Once editing is complete, the text is sent to typesetting.

he publisher provides: professional typesetting, preparation of illustrations, tables, and graphic materials, and a cover design in accordance with the publishing series’ standards or as agreed with the author.

The author receives a proof file in PDF format for verification.

After proofreading by the language editor and the Author/Editor, the text returns to typesetting to incorporate the changes into the file.

Printing and preparation of the electronic version

After final approval, the material is sent for printing or digital publication. The publisher offers:

  • printing in various binding options and print runs,
  • preparation of electronic versions (PDF),
  • publication in a hybrid or open access model—as per the agreement.

Distribution and promotion

The publisher distributes through: academic bookstores, wholesalers, and online sales; repositories and partner libraries (for e-books and open access); and promotional channels targeting the academic community.

If provided for in the contract, promotional and informational activities are also organized.

Author’s Copies

Upon publication of the book, the Author/Editor receives the number of author’s copies specified in the contract and the option to purchase additional copies on preferential terms. This is in accordance with Appendix No. 2 to Order No. 74/2024 of the Rector of UKSW dated December 5, 2024.
